Wegovy® (Semaglutide)
Wegovy® (Semaglutide) is a prescription medication that belongs to a class of medications known as GLP-1 receptor agonists. These medications work by mimicking the action of a hormone in the body known as glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1).
WEGOVY® (semaglutide) injection 2.4 mg is an injectable medicine that may help adults and children over the age of 12 years with obesity (BMI 30 for adults, BMI 95th percentile for age and gender for children), or some adults with excess weight (BMI 27) (overweight) who also have weight-related medical problems, lose weight and keep it off. Wegovy® is a once-week injection that should be taken in conjunction with a low-calorie diet and increased physical activity.
Wegovy®, like any medication, can cause side effects such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, and constipation. In some people, it may also increase the risk of thyroid cancer or pancreatitis. As a result, before beginning treatment, it is critical to discuss the risks and benefits of Wegovy® with your healthcare provider or our clinical team.
