Description
Vardenafil is a medication prescribed to men to treat erectile dysfunction (ED). It is a PDE5 inhibitor that works by increasing blood flow to the penis during sexual stimulation, resulting in an erection.
Vardenafil is marketed under the brand name Levitra or generically and is available in tablet form for oral administration. It is typically taken 30-60 minutes before sexual activity, with the effects lasting up to 4-5 hours.
Vardenafil, like any medication, can cause side effects such as headaches, flushing, nasal congestion, and indigestion. Rare but serious side effects include sudden loss of vision or hearing, as well as an erection lasting more than 4 hours (known as priapism), which necessitates immediate medical attention.
Vardenafil should not be used in conjunction with certain medications, such as nitrates or alpha-blockers, as this can result in a dangerous drop in blood pressure. Before taking vardenafil, you should consult with your doctor about any medications or health conditions you are currently taking.
