It may also increase the possibility of HIV transmission.

When it comes to chlamydia, prevention is everything. Using condoms during sexual activity, getting STI screenings on a regular basis, and practising safe sex are all effective ways to lower the risk of contracting or spreading chlamydia.

Treatment for Chlamydia usually involves a course of antibiotics, such as:

• Azithromycin: This is a single dose of antibiotics taken orally.
• Doxycycline: This is a 7-day course of antibiotics taken orally.

It is important to take the full course of antibiotics as directed, even if the symptoms go away, to ensure that the infection is completely treated. People who have been treated for Chlamydia should avoid having sexual contact for 7 days after starting treatment to reduce the risk of transmitting the infection to others.
